Wall Street Dips But Stays Close To Record Levels

U.S. stock indices experienced a slight decline on Wednesday but remained close to the record highs reached yesterday.

The recent gains followed the Federal Reserve's initiation of a new policy easing cycle, marked by an unexpected 0.5% interest rate cut last week, bringing rates down to 5%.

Markets are anticipating another similar rate cut from the Fed before the year's end.

During trading, the Dow Jones dropped 260 points to 41,950 points by 16:44 GMT, while the S&P 500 decreased by 0.2% or 8 points to 5,724. However, the NASDAQ defied the trend, gaining 0.1% to reach 18,092.
